I agree with others to an extent, my assassin is normally male, and the female version looked alot better, I wish I could keep it female.
But you have to wonder, if ANet did add that ability, how would it work?
Some Gender Changer NPC?
I was thinking perhaps an optional quest to take some magic potion or something that switches your gender? maybe a repeatable quest?
However if this was added, I suppose you'd need 3 versions of the quest, one for each game, or perhaps one big quest that required ingrediants from all 3 lands or something, with people trading/selling extra magic potions from the quest repeats on the player market.
Just don't make it some quest in DoA/UW/FoW/etc. if you guys do add that ANET =p

I never knew that my necro was hot as a male. Nor that a female version of my wammo is pretty looking. Nice prank A-Net!

Why would you delete a character just because it changed sex?
Same stats, equipment, etc.
My only complaint: I wish there was an official notice of this, I almost missed it (just happened to check Guru last night before bed!)
But, yeah, a permanent change would be an awesome option.
(Maybe a sex-change tonic?) Somehow this event reminded of that old D&D curse that changed your sex. Funny stuff...

would this be a preview of what our second-birthday gift might be? I mean someone did asked about changing your character's gender in the game.

no. A-net would deal with a TON of complaints if that's what they chose for a second b-day present.

Anet's going to receive tons of complaints no matter what the second birthday present is. You can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time so no matter what it is, someone is going to think it's lame or it isn't enough.

Welp, here are my once-proud heroes of Tyria:
They all look worse, with the exception of my ele who looks better, and my W/Mo who looks WORSERER.
shanaya - IIRC, they were too caught up with the FPE and other Factions-release type things last April, and in April 2005 Guild Wars wasn't released until the 28th (and I know nothing of the beta, as I was never around when there were available testing spots).

The thing about this event is that it didn't really change anything. The data that keeps your character's information (sex, hairstyle, height, face, color, etc) was the same. Nothing is changed, except for what you see.
As cool as i think it would be for there to be a hairstylist, I don't think that this weekend is really an indicator that ANet has the ability to change the data itself. They can only modify the stream of data on a large scale.
If everyone's information just boils down to a bunch of ones and zeroes, it would be a matter of putting the info into an equation that would swap the bits containing the gender, leaving all of the other information the same( ie: Gender gets switched from male to female, keeps Tyrian Necromancer Face 4, Tyrian Necromancer Hair color 2, etc).

Well, I'll go with the trend and post before-after pictures of my main characters. I did it with more, but the others are temporary pves that will surely die to become like my female ele and male necro... ehehe. Anyway here goes.
Katharos Ombre and Katt Ombre... where'd that hair ornament come from? My brain!?
Dusk Hell and Dman Hell... sexy to creepy.
Zemus Hell and Zemusa Hell... I didn't find a more original name and won't bother.
Now, for the whole perma-change topic, I think that if it becomes a change available in Quest form, it should be some kind of "curse", like the Chalice of Corruption quest, but repeatable to allow endless switching. The excuse for the repeat feature would be that when you switch gender, history is somehow rewritten and everyone who knew you now know you by your new gender and you're the only one remembering the change. Of course to prevent people from changing each minute, the Quest should require some effort, like sneaking and/or fighting through a dungeon.
It will probably not happen, but hey, we can dream!
